Mike Commodore isn't AHL fast enough... Please, not even our 9th def. Would bring up St-Denis, Nash, Tinordi and even Beaulieu before him.

He's not really part of the equation anyways. He truth is that Tinordi, Beaulieu and Ellis are the ones who truly threaten Weber's possible spot on the Habs.

Even with all the other NHL'ers on the roster more-or-less assured of spots, the rookies alone might make Weber expendable.

You may be able to trade markov but eat some of his salary in the deal. Maybe the Flyers are desparate enough. This summer you will buy out Kaberle so that will help shrink your contracts.

The only way one of the d-men get traded is if one of the young guys makes the team. Or if a better player becomes available.

The forward question will be answered by keeping Leblanc with the Bulldogs. If Galchenyuk makes the team Gomez will be in the A. It would save $900 000 against the cap and get rid of a player that you don't need. The you buy him out in the off-season.

I don't understand where all the player movement speculation comes from with the Habs. It would have happened in the summer if it was going to happen. This is the team they are going to play with. It doesn't make for great story lines but it is what it is.

I know, but it always scares the hell out of me earing Commodore's name

I think Weber's place not in danger, he lost it already. The only danger for him is : "where will I end up ?".

Good blog though, as usual !

He's alright. His ribs have been hurt in the KHL, but not that bad. He played, and will be at the camp. No worries, yet, on this front.

Not a chance does happen. I don't know why, even in the previous CBA, people always talk about burying contracts. It hardly happened other then a few occasions, and if it was going to with Gomez it would've way before now. He's with the team for this season, and then I think he'll get bought out unless they somehow trade him, but no chance they send him down.

My point wasn't about burying the contract. There are 13 forwards with 1-way contracts if Gally makes the team someone has to go. And I think it will be Gomez because it makes the most sense. If Gally doesn't make the team Gomez goes nowhere.

Every damn year the Habs go into the season with 7 defensemen, and every damn year half of them get injured in the first month and they end up blowing perfectly good cap money on bandaid one year contracts.

Let's just stick with the 8 we have and brace ourselves for the poop that will inevitably hit the fan.

Diaz is way better in my opinion and part of the immediate future. Weber is supposed to have the big shot but he's less accurate than PK. And that's not saying much.

Diaz also seems to be more stable on his skates and plays better in both ends. Unfortunately Weber's worth nothing in a trade.
